Whether they are organizing marathons or collecting donations from their customers or employees, community groups and organizations are passionate about ensuring a healthy future for the children of Central Texas.

Mansion of Terror Haunted House

This is a haunted house that runs from September 29 - October 31, 2006.  In 2005 it was rated the #1 haunted house in the country by Lions Gate Films Haunted House competition.  For 2006 the Mansion of Terror is back in a new location in North Austin.  It's now located on IH-35 at the edge of Austin and Round Rock at exit 251 in Sky Ridge Plaza behind Taco Cabana.  Tickets are $12 for single admission or $16 for a combo pass to both haunted houses.  You can also purchase tickets online.  Please visit www.mansionofterror.com   More

Econo Box

As a pioneer in recycling used moving boxes since 1994, Econo Box has grown to three locations in Austin and Round Rock that offer an ongoing program to buy back used moving boxes.  A customer who sells used boxes to Econo Box has the option of donating 100% of the proceeds to Dell Children's. The three locations are 2212 Rutland Drive (off Hwy 183 and Burnet Road, 836-7644), 5400 Brodie Lane, Suite 220 in south Austin (in Sunset Valley near Home Depot, 899-0009), and 115 Sundance Parkway, Suite 300 in Round Rock (in La Frontera Village across from Lowe's, 218-9888).

Half Price Books

Half Price Books began its Half Pint Library program in 1998 to focus on book donations to pediatric clinics, community centers, and schools for special needs children. In the Central Texas area, the annual January-March drive collects over 10,000 books for Children's Hospital's Half Pint Library.

Credit Union Texas Twister 10K walk

October 29, 2006 - Join us in Austin for the 3rd Annual Credit Union Texas Twister 10K Run/Walk this October.  Last year more than 300 people took to the streets of historic East Austin to benefit Children's Miracle Network.  Since the run's inception in 2004, the run has raised more than $110,000.  For more information go to www.cutxtwister.org  

Associated Builders and Contractors

The Central Texas Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors is planning a Safari Gala on Thursday evening, September 28. Call 719-5263 for more information.

Association of Legal Administrators

The Austin-Central Texas Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators is organizing a mini-carnival for children in October.  They will give toys, stuffed animals and other items collected at their bowling event in September.  Call 476-4346 for more information.

Brag'n Rights Classic

Dell'arte Exquisite Events

FedEx Kinko's Classic of Austin

A golf tournament annually in the spring. This prestigious Senior PGA Tour began in 1978 as The Legends, takes place at The Hills Country Club in Lakeway. More about this recent event.

Kids Racing for Kids

Iron Rock Raceway sponsors Kids Racing for Kids, a nonprofit charitable program that encourages young go-kart racers to raise money for Children's Hospital and to share their experiences with hospital patients. Call 530-7224 for more information.

Kohl's

As a family-focused, community-oriented department store, Kohl's dedicates its charitable efforts to improving health and educational opportunities for children. Kohl's has created partnerships with children's hospitals across the country and donates net profits from the sale of special Kohl's Cares for Kids items to those designated hospitals. Children's Hospital of Austin is the local beneficiary.
During the summer 2006, the five Austin-area Kohl's stores are featuring four Animal PlanetTM children's books:

  • "Dedan Saves the Day"
  • "Milia's Big Day"
  • "Katya's Busy Morning"
  • "Tembo Takes Charge"

Customers can also purchase 10"-12' stuffed animals of the entertaining main characters that'll help bring these wonderful stories to life.  The books and animals are only $5 each.  Proceeds from the sale of these items benefit the Skippy Express Mobile Health Van of Children's Hospital of Austin.   Dr. Seuss Promotion

The Foundation organizes an annual Rockport Invitational Fishing Tournament to benefit Dell Children's.

Dennis Quaid Charity Weekend

Held annually in late spring (Jun 7-10, 2007). Join Dennis and a star-studded guest list at Onion Creek Country Club as they make a difference for Central Texas kids.  More about the recent event

Radiothon

The 2006 KVET 98.1 FM Radiothon was held on May 11 and 12. A big 'Thank you' to Midnight Rodeo, KVET and the Randy Rogers Band for a fantastic kick-off for the 2005 KVET-FM 98.1 Radiothon. more

Randalls Kindness for Kids

The Randalls grocery chain conducts an annual in-store campaign, selling paper cut-outs of kids to raise funds for Dell Children's.

Texas Iron Spikes

Since 2002, this men's service organization at the University of Texas at Austin has organized an annual spring Softball Tournament. In recent years, participating teams have also come from Baylor University and Texas A&M.
